We call infiltration of facial filling material, to the filling of the soft tissues of the face. For this we use a material that we call biological because of its origin and that can come from the patient population, so it is called autologous, from a different organism, so it is called heterologous or synthetic. Sometimes the material used is not biological. The purpose of the intervention is to thicken structures such as the lips, chin, cheekbones, or nasal dorsum, or to camouflage wrinkles or facial scars. The technique consists in the infiltration of said material through a variable gauge needle. If autologous material, such as patient fat, is used, an extractive procedure will be necessary in another part of the body.
