The cochlear implant is an electronic device that is placed in the inner ear during surgery, designed to help patients with severe to profound neurosensory deafness who obtain little or no benefit from conventional hearing aids. Patients will be able to detect sounds of the environment, most will be able to understand the language without the help of lip reading and some will be able to use the phone. It consists of two main parts: an internal one that is called a cochlear implant and an external one that Is a language processor.
